Reviews of “The Crusader”
1. 5-stars — Short and Interesting Novella, August 30, 2011
If you want something that transports you back to a time of honor, chivalry and medieval times with a story of intrigue and deceit, this is the book for you. It was a quick read because of the witty dialogue between the protagonist and the other characters. It is a book that you can read over and over because of the different layers of symbolism and the unanswered questions that arise about each individual. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
2. 5-Stars — Violent and thrilling adventure, October 4, 2011
As a student of history and also of armed martial arts I foudn thos novella to be a great interest. At first the idea of the more magical parts of the story put me off but I quickly got into the swing of things. A quick, action packed and entertaining read. Like a movie condensed into a novella. Work a read! My only real criticism is that it could really do with being a bit longer. Perhaps a full-length sequel?

The Crusader by JP Wilder – 5 out of 5 stars
I actually downloaded the entirety of this book believing it to be the sample. I read the ‘sample’, enjoyed it, and was going to buy the book before I realised I already had read it all.
The story is 11,000 words, and I was very impressed. It read like a fantasy of the crusades. I particularly liked the heathen sorcery and Dark Men (assassins) aspects of this short story. I found it to be a twist that the Dark Men fought for the Crusaders and not the Saracens.
The story has a lot of fighting and a bit of betrayal. The action was fun to read, and I liked how it ended…
